stop cutting myself, maybe its good for my sanity but definately can’t be on the list of healthy things to do X)

and i realized, hey, these kids have a rough future.

  i looked at chase. the perfect, have-it-all athletic 13 year old who is gifted in so, so many ways and he doesn’t see it. he has talents beyond his wildest dreams. and guess what? chase has tourettes, asthma, ADHD, and OCD. severely. but if you looked at  him, you wouldn’t be able to tell that this amazing child has so many issues that are treated with medication. chase is also the only person in the whole world who knows absolutely everything about me, big or small. he is so trustworthy. i tell him absolutely everything, and his reliability continues to amaze me. i get so defensive over him when a bully threatens him, and then i realize, he wants to fight his own wars. he doesn’t need me until he asks.

then i look at wyatt. upon impact, you can tell that this 10 year old has severe autism, ADD, and around 23 different food allergies. you can just take a look, and tell that this kid acts about 7 years younger than he is supposed to. you can tell he is more socially awkward than anyone you’ll ever meet in the fourth grade. but if you take one look between me and wyatt, you would never see that we are brother and sister. he has been through so many medications, none of them ever help. i think the best medication we’ve had him on is Ritalin, which has addictive qualities. i see him, i see his frustration in understanding the world around him. i see his frustration in trying to interpret the words that are being said to him. and i see his frustration at trying to communicate clearly to others. hes going to have a hard adult life, and its all i can do to be a good big sister.

last but not least, the “little bug”, mason. the tiniest, gangliest young one in his 2nd grade class. this is a little guy who has a twinkle in his eye, and smiles at everything. he’s cunning, has outrageous tendencies to be deceitful, and has this odd habit of reciting various slogans from businesses. you’ll walk by him in the kitchen and hear his little “mickey mouse” voice squeak, “subway, eat fresh.” or, “reeeeeeed robin — YUM!” or sometimes even, “save money, live better, walmart!” Not yet diagnosed with anything, he’s probably the closest thing to normal in this family, and i love him to death, no matter what. he was nicknamed the families “little bug” after wearing the famous bug rainboots, which include the antennae sticking out of the toes and all.

my brothers may irritate me on a regular basis, but i’m blessed to have them. and i always will be. they’re huge pains in the butts, but when everythings said and done, im glad that i can count on each one of them to make me smile in their own special ways<3
